Our Team

TXIOM has a team of highly skilled surgical neurophysiologists and board-certified physicians. Our technologists, who average over 15 years of experience, are board-certified in neurophysiological monitoring by ABRET and are up-to-date on the most current advancements in IONM. 

What is Neuromonitoring? 

Texas lntraoperative monitoring (IONM) uses neurophysiological testing to monitor the pathways of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. These structures are at risk during spinal, orthopedic, neurological, and neurovascular surgeries.

IONM testing provides real-time feed­back on nervous system function during surgery. Our highly trained board-certi­fied technologist, with the remote over­sight of a board-certified neurologist, continuously monitors the status of the nervous system. If any changes or potential problems are observed, the technologist will immediately notify the surgical team, enabling them to take corrective action.

The purpose of intraoperative neuro­monitoring is to protect your nervous system. Medical research has shown that IONM reduces the frequency and severity of changes to the nervous system during surgery. IONM minimiz­es the risk of short and long-term operative damage, thereby improving patient safety. IONM is the standard of care for many types of surgery and is provided at the specific request of your surgeon as an additional safety measure.
